Workforce DEVELOPMENT
An Investment in training is an Investment in your Future
The Construction Industry Institute performed a research study regarding return of investment in workforce development (RT231-11 – Construction Industry Craft Training in the United States and Canada). The report detailed significant ROI for workforce development investments:
- 1% investment in workforce development can yield a 23% decrease in rework costs
- 1% investment in workforce development can yield 11% increase in productivity
- Each dollar invested can yield $1.30 to $3.00 in savings
- In the forms of increased productivity, reductions in turnover, absenteeism, rework, as well as in other areas.
Return on Investment (ROI) for Workforce Development Training
Our company focuses on developing the skills of Engineers and Technicians. At Expert Engineering and Education we want to empower your workforce by providing you with workforce development solutions to increase the operational capabilities of your personnel. Our education services for Engineers and Technical staff instill efficiencies that increase long-term viability. Not only does workforce development increase productivity, but it also decreases turnover and reduces lifecycle costs. We offer several Engineering and Technical courses to increase the capabilities of your staff to better handle existing challenges, as well as challenges of ever technologically advanced products.
Each course is customized to fit the time, format, personnel background, and goals of your specific organization. Professional Development Hours (PDH) are upon completion of the course, PDH’s are required to comply with continuing education requirements for various professional certifications (PE, CWI, NDT, D.WRE, D.GE, etc). All instructors are enthusiastic subject matter experts (SME) with Doctorate or Master’s degrees in engineering. In addition, many are current or former college professors with extensive teaching experience. Let us provide you with practical training that will increase the performance of your organization.
We offer several beneficial courses to increase the operational capabilities of your engineers and technicians.
Example courses:
- Fundamentals of Welding Engineering
- Advanced Application of Welding Engineering
- Welding Oversight Training for Engineers and Managers
- Metallurgy I (Steel)
- Metallurgy II (Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Nickel and Titanium alloys)
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preparation
- Communications Training for New Hires
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

"I am a Mechanical Engineer at Huntington Ingalls Industries. I enrolled in Dr. Foster’s welding course to gain a better understanding of welding theory, processes, techniques, standards, and design. This course has been, and will continue to be very beneficial in my current career in the shipbuilding industry as well as any industry I may pursue in the future. The course was a great balance of lectures, labs, demonstrations, and presentations from welding engineers. I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to learn the theory about welding techniques and reinforce it with application by conducting welding labs. In my undergraduate mechanical engineering degree, welding was reviewed in design courses, but was not extensively taught. Having now taken a welding engineering course, I am better prepared to design structures and prepare welding procedures and drawings. The additional welding curriculum and resources I’ve received has added value to my engineer career and expertise."
Testimonial #2
"Having the in class lectures, discussions, and demonstrations along with hands on labs truly helped bridge the gap between theory and application in this course. Having courses that offer lecture material which is followed up by hands on labs/demonstrations are vastly underrated. There should be many more upper level engineering courses that offer in course lectures with labs/demonstrations to give students hands on experience and real life application of the theory/information"
Testimonial #3
"The instructor was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all material covered in class. He also showed videos demonstrating the different welding processes which was very beneficial for me understanding how each welding process is executed. I am more of a visual learner, so this not only helped me understand how each process was executed, but also helped keep me focused on the material being presented in a 3 hour long class"
Testimonial #4
"The class as is is nearly perfect. The only thing I would change would be to require this class as part of Mechanical Engineering training. All engineers should have this experience and multiple times throughout history the lack of welding process knowledge had cost people their lives. Requiring this class on a national level would go far in helping to reduce or eliminate these occurrences. ..... you will learn invaluable knowledge that will help you stand out against other engineers who lack this experience."
